Cat and Genny
Course overview
During excavation works, buried services including gas pipes and electricity cables pose a serious risk to the safety of those undertaken king the works, as well as being potentially costly and disruptive in the event of a strike.
This course aims to train operatives in the use of the CAT (Cable Avoidance Tool) and Genny (Signal Generator) to help avoid unexpected service strikes.
course objectives
Upon successful completion of the course, delegates will be able to:
Interpret drawings in order to identify the approximate location of buried services.
Use existing features such as scarring, street furniture and ironwork to help identify the approximate location of buried services.
Use the CAT & Genny to identify the location a range of buried electrical and metallic services including cables and pipework.
Understand the limitations of the CAT & Genny and how to interpret results.

Course Outcome
On completion of this course, candidates will receive a CTC Ltd certificate, valid for 3 years.
